HURRICANE ERNESTO ADVISORY
Miami, Florida, August 28, 2006
Be prepared for Tropical Storm Ernesto. Make sure you have enough food, water, and supplies to get you through 3 to 5 days. Secure all items in your yard that may become flying projectiles due to the storm. Review your Emergency Plan with your family, and keep an eye on Ernesto via the local media.
Bus Transportation for Mobile Home Evacuation
Broward County has ordered a mandatory mobile home evacuation beginning tomorrow at 6 a.m. The Town of Davie will provide to its mobile home residents transportation to the Red Cross Evacuation Shelter located at Fox Trail Elementary School, 1250 Nob Hill Road. Transportation begins at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
Broward County remains under a hurricane watch, which may be upgraded to a hurricane warning later tonight or tomorrow morning. Residents are encouraged to continue their preparations.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades are fully operational, however please call your airline or cruise line for updated information.
Six Red Cross Shelters will open tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Be sure to bring bedding and medications if going to a Red Cross Shelter. The following shelters will open: Monarch High School, 5050 Wiles Road, Coconut Creek; Park Lakes Elementary School, 3925 N. State Road 7, Lauderdale Lakes; Rock Island Elementary/Arthur Ashe Middle School, 1701 N.W. 23 Ave., Fort Lauderdale; Plantation Elementary School, 651 N.W. 42 Ave., Plantation; Fox Trail Elementary School, 1250 Nob Hill Road, Davie; Watkins Elementary School, 3520 S.W. 52 Ave., Pembroke Park. In addition, the pet-friendly shelter at Millennium Middle School in Tamarac will also be open.
