History of Aventura City
The history of Miami begins more than 10,000 years ago. Florida state name derives from Spanish for "flowery". The county was named for the city and for Maj. Francis L. Dade, killed in the Seminole Wars. In 1925 the “land boom” started and brought people to Florida in quest of Real Estate market and Miami was and is its center since then. Today Miami contains approximately 375,000 residents. One hundred fifty-thousand of them are Cuban; and more than one-half of Dade County’s two million residents are Hispanic. Aventura became a City in 1995 and is beginning to be called now the “Beverly Hills” of Florida.
